I need fundraising ideas.
I am signed up with Team in Training. We raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society while training to run a marathon. I need to raise $6200 in order to run a marathon in Italy in March. http://pages.teamintraining.org/ntx/rome09/dfuller9ci

People were excited to participate because a 1/300 chance at winning a car is better than any lottery you can find. Knowing that the money was really a donation only made things easier.
This idea also has the benefit of not having to nickel and dime thousands of people, you only need to sell 300 tickets.
Of course you can adjust the numbers to fit your exact needs, but you get the idea.

I was raising money for my soccer team using the ESPN Coaches Program. This worked well and we received our money quickly. Unfortunately, the only magazine they sell now is ESPN the Magazine.

Presuming that your desire to run in the Italian Marathon will ALSO benefit the L & L Society, I'd advise that your fundraising efforts include physical activity with the donors. Host a "jumping-jack-athon" and invite school-aged children to solicit donations for each jumping jack performed by the child. You could raise quite a bit of money if you made your contest city-wide, and had age categories for elementary, secondary, and middle schools. You should be able to contact the school's principals and then gym teachers to enlist support. Maybe you could even get a local shop to donate trophies, tee-shirts, water bottles, etc. Keep the "training" and physical activity in your focus, and I bet you'll get support!
