If you're asking what to do about it, doctors do have chelation therapy. It's not just alternative medical practitioners that do it. Have your doctor test you for it, and see if you can have chelation therapy done.
Good luck!

• Although I have had appointments with my doctor and am still waiting for nueorologists to give me a final answer it is comforting to know that their is a possible treatment that may ease some of the pain and symptoms I have every day. Thank you for the site, it sometimes feels like there are no answers for what I have but this has been most helpful

There are some important things to consider here, and they are very logical. 1) Why dont (or is it not reported) many other mothers who are dental nurses have children with Tourettes syndrome (i.e. no link)
2) Most people have amalgam fillings which would expose them to much larger amounts of mercury over there lifetime than you mother may be exposed to when preparing them.
3) Tourettes disorder is an inherited nuerobiological condition so it is very common for lots of siblings to have it, even if a parent shows no sign. It would be no coincidence to have effected brothers / sisters - as was the case for me
4) Tourettes disorder often goes hand in hand with other problems, notable OCD. One way in which OCD can show is obsessions with health - hyperchondriasis. I know this too well being having both OCD and Tourettes syndrome. Perhaps your worry about mercury exposure is an OCD problem.
5) Do you meet the DSM (diagnostic criteria) for Tourettes?
Source(s):
Have Tourettes Syndrome and OCD. Come for a scientific and medical backdround. Information comes from medical texts about Tourettes and very personal experience :)
