I have had fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue since 1999. What can I do for the pain - constant since 6/09?

Thought I was having heart attack once. Got over it. Lung dr. had xray and said it was clear and he thought it was angina. Family dr. said no that it was bad case of fibro/chronic fatigue. I am very depressed and taking one pill for that, ibuprofen for pain. Very hard to live with this disease - very dpressing. Getting counseling.

Exercise has been shown to reduce the pain associated with fibromyalgia. Start at an appropriate level for your body and experience. Something easy like stretching and walking is a good place to start, but if this is too easy for you, running, swimming, biking or weightlifting are also good options. Ease into it though. Once you've got an exercise plan going, feel free to experiment with new options.

Also keep in mind that this will not give you instant relief, in fact you will likely have increased soreness for a short period of time while your body gets used to the exercising. Luckily this will go away in a week or two and you should experience decreased pain and fatigue.

Another thing you could try is fish oil. Fish oil has been shown to reduce inflammation and should help with the pain. It also helps supply your brain with necessary fatty acids which should help with the fatigue.

After a few weeks of these, if you are doing ok, consider trying a low-carb diet to help with the fatigue and inflammation. Try the diet for 30 days and see how you feel. You should have less pain and more energy.
