Ribs REALLY hurt when they break. I've seen a few break and each time the person at least teared up if not full out broke down. Breaking a rib is one of the most painful bones to break.

They're not really broken that easily either. They often bend and bruise. If this is the case then it will take a long time to heal and feel right but for the most part will heal well.

I say get a quick check by your family doctor. You likely won't need an X-ray... someone who knows how and where to feel can usually determine if a rib is broke or not.

I'm not a doctor.

I have an ITLS certificate, CPR and a considerable amount of experience helping injured people. Double check all of this with a real doctor.

When you break a rib, you cannot breathe near even half a breath normal at a time, your clenched over in constant pain. if you can breath even half a breath of normal i really really doubt its broken. give it 1-2 days if its still just as bad or it starts to swell drasticly, get it checked out.
