If you are exposed now, the flu shot will not work. Washing hands really won't work to prevent the flu virus either, although it is good practice. Wearing a mask yourself or getting the flu victim to wear a mask is more likely to work. The flu is typically spread through the air and the victim coughing or sneezing around you (in the same room) is more likely to infect you than touching anything that they have touched.

If you do find that you have symptoms, see your doctor immediately. Your doctor can give you anti-viral medication, but they are useless if it is more than 48 hours after the infection has started.

Good Luck.

Drink lots of water and combine it with green drinks, lots of vitamin C, and drinks like Naked Green Machine, Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness, or Odwalla Superfood Green. These green drinks are great drinks! If you don't get these drinks, be sure to eat steamed cabbage and broccoli is always good. Add a little garlic to the broccoli! You can also make sure you eat your vegetables and fruits, try not to stay too close to this person with the flu. You may also want to get a flu shot, so talk to your doctor.

Here are 7 tips:

1. Wash your hands frequently
2. Keep positive
3. Get a monthly massage
4. Eat garlic
5. Apple cider vinegar with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice daily
6. Drink water
7. Practice Tai Chi

Get a flu Vaccine, try to wear a mask, (although it might hurt the person's feelings and stuff) Take vitamins specially vitamin C, try to turn the other way when they sneeze, exercise, wash hands frequently, stay away if possible.

1)
Get a Flu Shot

2)
Take These

Coldfx is a natural herbal pill that is proven to boost your immune system. They're slightly expensive but worth every penny. I'm almost constantly exposed to all sorts of germs including strands of the flu. Almost everyone around me will be sick and I'm often the "last man standing" never to be effected.

3)
Drink OJ or take Vitamin C

Vitamin C is the single best way to naturally and easily help your body ward off infection.

Drinking a lot of OJ is good because it gets a ton of fluids into your system while maxing you out on Vitamin C. Whenever I feel something coming on, I buy a couple of jugs of Tropicana and drink OJ almost constantly.

I hope that this helps you to stay healthy!

I hate getting sick. I'm exposed to a lot of different types of sickness. This combination means that I've been forced to figure out a way to stay healthy. In combination, these 3 things work great for me.

I work for a hospital the best way is to wash or use hand santizer when coming in contact with anybody sick. Also it is recommended to have the flu shots. And when you are sick it is highly suggested you stay home to prevent it spreading in the office.

Its too late for a flu shot, if you know that you'll be exposed tomorrow. Wash your hands frequently, and don't touch your face with your hands. Get plenty of sleep tonight, so you'll be well rested.

There are anti-viral drugs that will work after exposure to minimize the duration of the flu. If you are in a high risk category, your doctor may be willing to prescribe them for you.

The best way to prevent is not worry too much.
Have a good amount of Garlic and Pepper in your meal the day before.
Eat meat and work out before you meet the person.

The garlic and pepper will fortify your immune system, so will the work out.
And don't worry too much.

Wash your hands frequently, and don't put them anywhere near your mouth until you do. (e.g. eating, applying lipstick, biting your nails, etc.)

1) Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
2)Wash your hands frequently and wash them well.
3)Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often carried on your hands.
4) Get a flu shot.
The best way to protect yourself from influenza is to receive an annual influenza vaccine (a flu shot). This will immunize (protect) you against one or more strains of the virus. A flu vaccine uses an inactivated (killed) virus that cannot cause infection but instead, causes the body to produce antibodies (proteins that fight the virus). The vaccine is based on the strains of the flu viruses that are common at the time. Flu viruses change over time. That is why you must get a new shot every fall. Even then, some people may still catch a different type of flu that scientists were not expecting.

Flu shots are usually given at doctors’ offices and in health departments in the fall and winter. Now they are also offered at places in your neighborhood like drugstores. You should get vaccinated 6 to 8 weeks before flu season begins to give your body time to acquire immunity. This should prevent you from getting infected or at least reduce the severity of flu if you do catch it. However, if you are exposed to the virus soon after you are vaccinated you may still catch it. That is why you should get the shot early in the flu season.

The vaccine itself cannot cause the flu, but as with almost any medical procedure, there may be side effects of the vaccine. The most common side effect is mild soreness where the shot was given. Soreness can last up to two days and rarely affects daily activities. A small number of people, most often children, might also develop a slight fever within 24 hours. They may have chills or a headache, or feel a little sick. People who already have a cold or breathing problem may find their symptoms worsen. Usually none of these reactions lasts for more than a few days. Because the vaccine virus is grown in chicken eggs, a few people who are allergic to eggs are in danger of allergic reaction, but this is rare. If you are concerned, ask your doctor. You can be treated for the allergy.

I never get the flu because my immune system is in great shape. I think it is because I take vitamin c and Echinacea every day.
