If this is a rhetorical question, I feel for you. I would recommend no naps after 5 PM and physical activity to tire out the kids. If it is not a rhetorical question, then the issue comes down to safety. Sleeping pills can be a central nervous system depressant. While I am sure that some parents would appreciate it, there is no pressing medical need to take the risk in testing on young children to evaluate dosing. If a child is in fact suffering from insomnia, teaching him/her good sleep habits and relaxation techniques will be far more effective in the long run than any medication.
