The feeling of heart burn can be a symptom of many things. Not to be an alarmist, because there are many reasons this could happen, but a feeling of heartburn, tightness in the chest and angina can be an early warning sign or even a symptom of heart attacks or heart disease.
The best advice anyone can give you is to call your doctor and tell them the symptoms you are feeling. It could be nothing more than a meal from yesterday not meshing well with your belly. Or it could save your life.

Not a doctor, but I have had acid reflux since I was a child. Acid reflux or heart burn has a variety of causes, but the burning sensation typically occurs from increased acid production in your stomach. When you do not eat, the natural acids that your stomach produces have nothing to do and nothing to counteract it. Before my reflux was medically under control, my worst reflux symptoms occurred when I hadn't eaten. If you have heartburn frequently, I would see a doctor. The doctor may just recommend over-the-counter medications, but depending on your situation you may need something stronger. You also need to see someone to make sure that it is simple heartburn. I cannot emphasize this enough.
Uncontrolled acid reflux can lead to a variety of problems that you wouldn't normally think of. For example, every winter I used to completely loose my voice when I got a cold. The combination of the acid reflux and the cold symptoms would inflame my vocal cords until I couldn't speak any more. It also caused permanent vocal cord scarring in a relative of mine. There are also links between acid reflux and Barrett's Esophagus, a condition that can lead to cancer.
