Good question, especially because some of the names sound so bizarre. There's actually a pretty informative article on this that I found here: http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/Medicine_Cabinet/medication_names.html

They're kind of tied in with the purpose of the meds. Like concerta to help kids concentrate for A.D.D. Sudafed is pseudo-efedren, that kind of stuff. The home page for the pill you're talking about specifically might have info on the name of the history.
