My eye doctor told me that the occasional twitching is from fatigue or stress.
This site pretty much confirms it but also touches on some more serious eye twitching issues.

Most eye twitches are harmless, involuntary spasms of the tiny muscles surrounding the eye. Some causes are fatigue, squinting a lot, consuming too much caffeine, or working in a less than ideal visual environment- for example staring at a computer screens for long periods of time. Just like a muscle spasm at any other part of the body, an eye twitch can mean you've taxed your muscles and need to relax them. Persistent, more violent eye twitches could be a symptom of other physical or psychological ailments, such as undue stress, neurological damage, or even epilepsy. This is referred to as blepharospasm. You can read more about blepharospasm here

If this has been going on for a while, then I would see your doctor for an evaluation to determine the exact cause.
