* Chest pain that often feels worse when you cough or breathe in.
* Fast heartbeat.

When you have mild symptoms, your doctor may call this "walking pneumonia.""

I've actually had pneumonia a few times in the past. For me, the feeling that made me "know" I had it was the chest tightness. It felt like there was a balloon inflated in my chest, keeping me from breathing. Breathing felt crackly and hurt a bit.
