Rinse your mouth with warm/hot salt water multiple times a day; it will kill all the bacteria. Mix Maalox and Benedryl 1/2 and 1/2 and rinse twice daily; Maalox will coat the sore and Benedryl will reduce the inflamation. If you are using any inhaled medication, rinse twice with water immediately after as many medications can cause mouth sores. See a doc soon if it won't go away.

Rinse with peroxide. When I was a kid, Mom used to rub a chunk of alum on our canker sores (mouth ulcers). It must be good for you because it tastes terrible.

Here is a brief set of instructions from eHow for alum application:

"Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Things You’ll Need:

* Alum

Step1
Wet the tip of your finger.
Step2
Touch the tip of your finger to Alum so that a small quantity adheres.
Step3
Touch the alum to your canker sore.
Step4
Breath deep and know that it will all feel better soon."

Here is a WebMD article about treatment and preventions of canker sores:

If you have had these canker sores for more than two weeks or are experiencing additional symptoms, consult your physician.
