WebMD recommends a few remedies, including icing down the shins; taking non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or naproxen; and strengthening your leg muscles to discourage future injuries.

Personally, I find that getting off my feet and getting some rest helps a lot, too, in addition to ice and ibuprofen.
