Your headache could be caused by one of several things. WebMD has a great page that lists common types of headaches as well as their symptoms.

It's possible to have a sinus headache, for example, which doesn't always respond to aspirin or a good, long nap. WebMD has a list of symptoms and suggested treatment.

You might have a migraine. These present with varying symptoms, and respond to different treatments. Sometimes, getting some sleep helps; other times, not so much. I've found that Excedrin Migraine, taken at the recommended dosage, helps some of the time. Other times, I have to take Axxert, which is a prescribed abortive.
