Do you think we should do the fist bump and the elbow rub to reduce our chances of getting the swine flu?

I heard shaking hands spread this disease rapidly

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reported that the H1N1 flu virus is more easily spread by hand to hand transmission. This is different than "typical" influenza, which is more readily spread by respiratory droplet (sneezing, coughing). Given the report, I would say that, yes, your idea may help reduce transmission. Remember, though, that a person is quite contagious just prior to exhibiting flu symptoms. So, wash hands, wash hands.

I don't know about the elbow rub, but the fist bump would be a good idea. It is so much easier then the handshake, and I prefer it already. It would probably reduce the chance a little, and I hate when my hand stings after high fives.

If you want to live in fear I guess it's okay. I'm a firm believer in if it is written, all the prevention in the world will not hold back. Think of it this way, there is one disease for which we will all never recover from. Could be any disease or old age, because we all die.

Most of us know someone who drank, smoked excessively and ate everything in site, yet lived to 80's or 90 something. And healthy people who died of a massive heart attack or something.

I'm not saying turn your nose up to healthy living, I love keeping my immune system at the top of it's game, because I hate being sick. I think that's the key to health is maintaining my quality vitamin intake. Quality being the optimum word.

Be Well.
