Grilled doens't have to mean smoked. The problem with grilling in some cultures is that they cook over the fire. In my country, we cook above the hot coal when it doesn't release smoke anymore. Grilled meat and vegetables can be very healthy if you know how to cook them the right way.

I always thought it was, but after researching, I found that grilling red meats, poultry and fish produce compounds called HCAs that have been found to cause tumors in animals. Also, drippings from the meats onto charcoal form carcinogens called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Marinades are said to help reduce the forming of these carcinogens during grilling.

Moderation is the best policy. Compared to greasy and fried stuff, definitely grilled is better. Still good to have some balance in every grilled food you eat. That way, you can eat as much grill as you want. :)
