Precise Coumadin levels are somewhat tricky to achieve and maintain. Many medications can adversely affect them. In our Podiatry practice we discourage many herbal treatments while on Coumadin. One source specifies that someone taking Coumadin should only take the Acai Berry under a doctor's supervision and another states that it isn't a good idea.

Also, FYI, just in case you are confused. Dr. Oz is not affiliated with this site; the Mahalo page is just about his new show that is coming out in 2009.

I'd strongly encourage you to ask a doctor in this case, since Cynthiag's info gives you conflicting information--one doctor says it's OK, the other doctor says it's not OK.

Although it's very convenient to ask questions of people on the web, sometimes there's no substitute for asking your doctor.

One article says "ask your doctor, but I don't recommend it", and gives a specific reason why: it may affect blood volume. The other article says, "Don't, unless your doctor specifically says it's OK, which he probably won't."
