Are you going to make any New Year's resolutions? If so, what will you resolve to do?

Am interested in knowing specific resolutions which you will make. If you are not making any, why not?

Always make them, but do we keep them is the question! Be healthier or eat healthier is always a common one. I make one, because it can't hurt to make a resolution.

Not a big fan of New Year's Resolutions; if you want to improve something in your life, you should be able to motivate yourself to do it in June or July just as easily as the beginning of January!

Maybe. But there is also more cultural support for doing things if you set that goal in January. Psychology studies have shown that we are more likely to do something if we tell other people we are going to do it -- commitment and consistency -- and it's easier to tell people about a goal at New Years because people are always asking (like on here!).

However, even then it doesn't actually happen that much...but it still might actual be more likely than in June or July IF people actually commit and don't undermine with a "if this year is any different" or "maybe" or what not.

I am going to do the following:

Play Wii Fit more (since I got it for Christmas)
Spend more time with my family
Learn to control my temper

Those are good starts... don't want to overwhelm myself ;)

Put the computer away more often (including especially turning off the power!)

Remember how short a year is.

Resolutions, here they are, together with their likeliness

1. Run at least five 5K runs without walking by the end of May - likely
2. Run at least one 10K run without walking by the end of May - unlikely (both the no-walking part and the starting one part)
3. Gain ten pounds of muscle - not my goal. My real goal is
4. Be able to do at least 50 pushups without stopping by the end of May - not likely though I will make the effort
5. Be able to bench my own weight fifteen times - possible
6. Finish school and find a good teaching job soon. - likely
