Because they are legal... Everyone can have a prescription drug. I have some Codine-laced Tylenol in my cabinet right now.

Why are more Americans alcoholics or smokers than illegal drugs? Because they're legal and, therefore, more easily attainable.

Because they are easier to access, legal and sometimes free. Do you know of any insurance plans that are paying for cocaine or pot? I'm sure I don't.

The sad fact is that the FDA has created their own cartel. As long as a drug meets their approval it's legal..and sometimes even before that depending on the class of drug. It's all about the money. Insurance companies run the country. As long as Americans keep forking over cash to insurance companies, they will keep making sure we have our happy pills.

Sure anitdepressants etc will destroy your liver, cause you to be suicidal and have effects on almost every single system in the body, but they keep the medical industry happy and that keeps the insurance companies and the FDA happy. Not to mention the legal drug pushers..I mean doctors.

Of course, we can use our own home remedies, but only if we are willing to lost our homes over a weed growing in our yard. And no, I don't do any illegal drugs, but I also avoid pills and doctors offices as best I can. I prefer to control my own life as opposed to letting any chemical do it for me.

Perhaps because prescription drugs are more socially acceptable, legal and tend to be the answer for a plethora of issues. Many people take prescription drugs the right way and they can be very helpful to managing their life, in terms of pain, contraception, psychosis ect.

However, there are a number of people who tend to take prescription drugs for the same reasons others take illegal drugs; to become numb, to forget life to get a high. Some people replace their illegal drug habit with their new "legal" drug habit without ever getting to the main issues they are trying to forget. This is where we have a problem.
