How much do you pay for health insurance annually?
With health care reform in the news, I was curious how much people pay for their health insurance premium. We are a family of four, and we pay $10,800 a year for health insurance through Aetna. (That's $416 deducted from my paycheck bi-weekly!) I happen to think that's extremely excessive.
How much do you pay, and do you think it's a fair amount?

We currently try to take about half of that and put it in savings for medical needs.
I'm going to stop with my answer now, before I get pissed off and start cussing. (Not at any of you though.)

For last year, through Kaiser, $7,500 for my wife and I. That does not cover dental or vision, which we have through other plans. It also does not include co-payments for visits or for drugs. I had surgery early this year that would have cost us $16,000. It was paid in full by Kaiser. Every 90 days, I need an injection that normally would cost $400. And I take three medications that I need to refill every 90 days. The injection is covered except for the $15 co-payment for the visit. I pay a co-payment for the drugs.
The older we get, the more we think that what we pay is fair.
I am in favor of universal health care. When I was young, my family was close to poor. Every time someone in our family needed to see a doctor, there was a debate about the cost. I still resent that.

You can't really say because there are so many types these day. Ones that are major medical that include a health savings account can run only $40/month. Best thing to do is just go to ehealthinsurance.com and compare for what type of coverage you are looking for.

Ok, i have an unusual situation whereby i reside in New Zealand, so i'm away from home, but here i pay $4200 for our family to have complete 100% reimbursement coverage, from a non-profit private insurer here, we have free healthcare for the children up too five years of age, and dental throughout their schooling is subsidized, so we pick a minor charge to top up the dental care. also NZer's gave up the right to sue in 1973 for a universal insurer, called the Accident Compensation Corporation , ACC pays for your care if your are injured either within or outside the workplace, and compensates loss of earnings at 80% of pre-injury rate. This is a unique system in my experience, but the populace seem happy with it, perhaps a omen of what may be rolled out at home. My colleagues here seem to think its a decent system. But they also have no experience of anything else.

We are a family of 3 and pay 400 per month. My wife and i work for the same company and our insurance is split with her and our son on one plan and me on a separate plan. It would cost us around 600 per month to all be on the same plan. (doesn't make much sense to me and we work for an insurance company). Our coverage is the same and it can be a bit of a hassle but for 200 per month the hassle is worth it. Our plan is a company funded plan managed by Cigna and our coverage is very good. We used to have Cigna HMO and i miss it greatly. Unlike most I felt that the HMO was an advocate for me against the outrageous cost of medical care. I don't need an MRI every time i sprain an ankle.
As it stands I guess we are paying a fair price. With the high cost of medical care the insurance companies must charge higher rates since a policy is just the contractual transference of risk that the policyholder becomes ill or injured.(I know,I know but read the next line)
i tend to lean more toward the socialist line and feel everyone should receive health care for the cost of the taxes we pay.(which would put me out of a Job)
