I just broke a pin off my hard drive, but my computer has started to work better? Should I start backing up my data, or not worry about it?
Not sure of the actual pin number, but believe it is just one of the ground pins. So far computer seems to operate fine, and actually is performing faster than normal (it seems) I haven't ran any tests to confirm, but I believe I still have full functionality. Should I start to look for a replacement, or just use it till it craps out of old age. I have the ability to replace the pin, but really don't want to, would rather just replace the drive, but don't want to spend the money.

If you value the data you have on this hard drive you should clone it, as soon as possible. Having said that, if you only damaged a ground pin you shouldn't have any issues right away, but you will at some point in time.
However if the damaged pin is one of the other IDE connects your data is in danger of corruption, anytime the system is rebooted.

I would definitely back up your data. This is always a good idea.
