Next Question
I tend to like costumes which make people either question or think... so my ideas will probably be a bit out there, but here goes:
1) Wear a brown trash bag (head through the bottom of the bag, opening tied around your thighs). Stuff a few small pillows inside the bag - not plump and still leaving wrinkles. Add dark brown leggings or pants, dark glasses, and a white-tipped cane. What are you? A Blind Date!
2) Wear regular clothing. Over that, wear a hula hoop suspended over your shoulders (suspenders, if you've got them). Add multiple sets of fake teeth suspended from the hula hoop (vampire and other sorts of inexpensive teeth sets), add some teeth onto your clothes, as well. What are you? A Vicious Circle!
3) Wear regular clothing (that might be expendable) and glue (or sew) an LP vinyl record to the seat of your pants (you can find a surplus of old records at Goodwill Thrift stores quite often). You could glue (or sew) 45 records to your elbows, if desired, too. When you sit or rest on an elbow, what are you? On the Record! When you stand, what are you? Off the Record!
I've tortured you enough with ideas... hope you find something fantastic! Be sure to check out the many Halloween How-to pages! (see sources)

But Scooby-Doo characters can also be featured easily with existing clothes and a bit of makeup or even Grease characters.
The advantages of those costumes are that they can be made both for kids and adults.

I would say, Addams family, for instance, you can make a great Wednesday costume just by sewing a white lace around the neck and wrists of a short black dress with long sleeves, having black tights and shoes, make use of white makeup and wear a black pigtail wig. Easy as a pie :) But Scooby-Doo characters can also be featured easily with existing clothes and a bit of makeup or even Grease characters.
The advantages of those costumes are that they can be made both for kids and adults.
