I think that if you simply wore purple, say, that would be rather lame. You'd have to go further. At the least a purple wig and purple face paint and any skin showing (the more the better, by the way). Purple shoes and accessories of course.
Still, I'm not sure it would seem that creative. With a little extra effort you could be a plum, or a purple people eater.
The same sort of thing goes for many colors.
Did you do a Devil yet? How about a Blue Devil?

Enjoy yourself, that's the main thing... and don't forget the blue nail polish. Hee!

I'm blue sometimes too, and I dress up for Halloween.

Or how about a beautiful shade of luminous blue and you could shine like a "blue light special" all nite long.
How about a beautiful shade of rose. Surround yourself with a hula hoop and you have "ring around the rosey".
Ok, Ok, I'll quit. This was such a FUN question.

Would you be a color for Halloween?
It seems that in my seventeen Halloweens, I have pretty much swept the board with "classic" costumes. I have been, in no particular order of importance... a bunny, a princess, Snow White, a witch, Sailor Moon, an ice skater, a vampire, a fairy, a dark angel, Little Red Riding Hood, a black cat, Cleopatra, a cowgirl, a bunch of grapes, and a few more that I cannot seem to remember at the moment.
This year, I was thinking about being a color. Yes, you read that correctly. A color: like blue, or red, or pink. Any thoughts? Do I get brownie points for creativity? Or is this idea just kinda lame? I thought it would be funny when people ask me what I am, I can simply say "I'm blue".

One year for a costume contest, I was a red crayon in a box of crayons with three other people who were dressed as green, blue and yellow. It was a lot of fun, we didn't win though, we got beat out by Goldilocks and the three bears. I had red shoes, red socks, red tights, red pants, red shirt, red scarf, natural red hair, red rouge on my face, and of course a red crayon wrapper and pointed red hat.

Yes, but if you are going to be a crayon, be the brightest crayon in the box! I like yellow!

Absolutely! I don't think it's lame at all, and it would be funny to give a heavy sigh and say, "I'm blue" when people ask. If you need some additional reasons for being blue and further thoughts on this wonderful color, read the best answer at this link:

While we're on the topic, here are a few pages which mention the interesting connection between cobalt blue and goblins or mischievous spirits:

I like this idea, and heck yeah there are bonus points for creativity! You have to have an awesome sense of creativity to pull this one off. I like the "I'm blue" idea. I also like the purple people eater idea mentioned here too. I think if you focus on what a particular color represents to you, you could go a long way with this. When you said the color blue, I was totally thinking of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory--the part where the little girl ate too much and turned into a blueberry! (Finding an Oompa Loompa escort would be a little more difficult, though.) Violet Beauregard always looked blue to me, but when you ask her, she says, "I'm Violet."

What a colorful idea! You could be pink and be "Tickled Pink" which means you could laugh all nite long for no apparent reason! Or how about a beautiful shade of luminous blue and you could shine like a "blue light special" all nite long.
