How do I keep my hair from getting all static-y when I brush it?!

I'm not talking about frizz, that's nothing out of the ordinary. Static, like balloon sticking onto the wall kind. I don't know if it's my brush, or the weather, or what. Kind of annoying.

I used to get that weird feeling when I brushed my hair. If you wet the brush with a little bit of water and then shake it off before you brush your hair, it wont produce that weird static feeling.

If you use a conditioner suitable for your hair type every time you wash your hair, you should find it helps. Also serum for hair (various brands should be available in you local store) used sparingly is excellent for shine, condition and improved managabilty.Hope this helps

The water trick definetly worked for me...My hair used to be down to the back of my knees and I hated brushing because of the static feeling. Water took care of it.

This has been happening to my hair lately as well - and I have really long hair, so it's very frustrating. But what I have found to help is to rub a dryer sheet on my hair and brush, and this helps to smooth my hair back down.

wet it, or put a tad bit of gel on the brush, when brushing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike !

Try Static Guard. It's a spray that most people think of using to prevent static cling in clothing, but it works with hair too. You can spray it on your comb or brush, or in the case of very high static and/or very long hair you can lightly spray it on your hair too.

I have hair down to my waist, and I speak from experience. The Static Guard is also great because it goes on to prevent static all day, so if your taking winter hats on and off you won't get static crackling every time.
