Since you have a Guitar Center near you you can get help from a real person close to you if you buy online from their site. Probably work out better for returns too if you needed too.

Guitar and accessories retailer
I just started getting into playing guitar and was just curious if i could get some suggestions for online retailers to buy things like cables, pedals, effects etc. Im also aware of the Guitar Center chain in California but rather save gas since im a broke kid saving for college ><

I agree with neilbakker. Musician's Friend has done the mail order music thing forever, good selection of stuff. Only thing I don't recommend is buying instruments, from anywhere, without being able to play 'your' guitar before buying it.

Dude, I bought some really cool rock star stuff at Walmart. In fact, I got the whole rock band in one box. Within a few hours, I was a rock star no kidding. Technology will allow us not only to not learn anything new and history becomes a calculator, but why not music as well? Welcome to the 21st Century.

yeah ditto, guitar center for sure, around where I'm at it's kinda far away so I usually hit up the Sam Ash . . . musiciansfriend online has never disappointed; music go round where I used to live was a great place to get discounted gear, getting in good with the guys who run one of those is a plus. . . if you go there often you will occasionally get a real gem for a good price and they know your plight!
