I do.
I donate my time specifically to a local mission The Upper Room Compassionite Ministries in Nashua NH. We help out the less fortunate every Tue. through Thur. 9am till 3pm giving out food, clothing and essential household accessories to anyone who shows up with needs.
I chose them because they are right in my neighborhood.
Three times a week 1 hour a day I try to make my city a little easier to live in for those less fortunate than myself.

Who doesn't.
My personal favorite is telling panhandlers that if they can do ten pushups I'll give him a dollar.
Now, when I'm walking down the street, sometimes they see me and run up and say, "Hey chief, look!" and they drop and do ten. It's always a bit unnerving to company if I'm with someone else.
Maybe I should make it 20.

I also donate some money to the seasonal campains, like the Salvation Army Kettles at Christmas and to local food drives throughout the year.

Welcome to The Natural Child Project! Our vision is a world in which all children are treated with dignity, respect, understanding, and compassion. In such a world, every child can grow into adulthood with a generous capacity for love and trust. Our society has no more urgent task.

If I were to donate I would donate to Little Smiles (They buy candy and toys and stuff for kids with cancer and that are dying and go and visit them and play around with them),
http://www.littlesmiles.org/
Or to the Bubba the Love Sponge Foundation (He uses the money donated about 99% (some used for the accountant and some for the fund raisers he holds) and donates it to people in need, like the family of the tampa bay police officer that died, some to the family of a father who died while saving his son stuck under a waterfall)

Do you donate to any specific charities?
With the holidays coming up, it always brings this to mind. The Salvation Army folks ringing their bells, news articles about generous folks helping out at soup kitchens. So when thinking about random things earlier, I thought about this. And I will even give you my answer now. I give to Child's Play.

The folks who run Child's Play do the job the way all charities should be run, in my opinion. And it's for kids. Sick Kids. How can you not get behind this?
So do you donate? Tell us which charity you donate to, and why you chose them.

• I had a friend who.. fell.. financially and otherwise, a couple years back, who happened to live in Nashua. And Upper Room helped him as much as AA did. I was going to try and pick somebody with a yellow belt or so, to encourage the newbies and all that. But Buddawiggi's post made me think about it, and it's not just the best answer that he gave, but the best answer that he helps others. And that, I hope, encourages the newbies more than money would.
