Music aficionados first noticed Thicke—who only went by his last name when his debut album initially entitled Cherry Blue Skies dropped, in 2000. Two years later, he released his debut single When I Get You Alone, a track that samples Walter Murphy’s A Fifth of Beethoven, and in the video for the song Thicke is a courier with long Tarzan-type tresses, racing through the streets of Manhattan on a bicycle.
Initially placing him in the ‘one hit wonder’ bracket, many were surprised when he resurfaced like a suave modern day Jon B, singing the second single from his CD ‘The Evolution of Robin Thicke’, known simply as Lost With You, a ballad written for his wife actress Paula Patton, of Déjà vu and Idlewild fame.
