It may be easier to buy a Garmin and then upload this map. I'd at least look into the information.

Can you use Google MapMaker maps into a GPS device? My country the Philippines is not on any GPS device maps.
The Philippines is not on any GPS device makers radar. AFAIK you can buy an old GPS map of Metro Manila from "Map King" a HK based company. But its at least 5 years old and was never updated ever since. The Google MapMaker looks good (also free!) since there is a community based effort to improve the maps accuracy.

According to the Google MapMaker site, "Google Map Maker has many of the same features and functionality of Google Maps." According to Google Maps, "anyone with an Internet connection and a supported web browser can use this free service on a desktop or laptop computer." The supported Web browsers are: IE 6.0+, Firefox 2.0+ and Safari 3.1+, so I guess it depends on whether you can access any of these browsers with your GPS. According to the Google MapMaker site, the Philippines is one of the countries currently being mapped.

On a side note, there is a project to develop turn based maps for Garmins.http://roadguide.ph/
