More important than sprinkler choice is how you actually water. Using an in ground system you can specifically time exactly how long the sprinklers are on. You can also water on a schedule when the temperature is lower giving the water more chance to soak in.

I'm thinking of installing a sprinkler for my lawn. Which of these models is the most 'water efficient'?
There are several styles of sprinklers. I am wondering whether any are particularly 'water wasteful', or water-efficient. I do not know what these are called, but here is what they look like.

Sprinklers that loft water into the air are more likely to waste water through evaporation.More important than sprinkler choice is how you actually water. Using an in ground system you can specifically time exactly how long the sprinklers are on. You can also water on a schedule when the temperature is lower giving the water more chance to soak in.
