I prefer a fire pit, in fact I have one and our family has spent many contented hours sitting around our fire roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, corn on the cobb, or baked beans in a can. Drinking hot cocoa, coffee, or other beverage is also memorable. Sometimes we sing. I play guitar and we get sentimental. It's not long before my inner John Denver emerges and a Rocky Mountain High/Country Roads medley commences. With a fire pit, you can look across the fire and see the glow reflected on your loved ones' faces. Long after most of the flames have dies down, we bask in the heat of long lasting coals. A fireplace is nice, but I prefer my fireplace inside and my outside fires to be around a pit that is conducive to circular seating and long hours of enjoyment.

Do you prefer an outdoor fireplace or a fire pit in your garden area?
Could you tell me why you made the choice? I am planning my winter desert garden and would love to know which you prefer and why.

I love the video too. Do you buy firewood to burn?
