To avoid cross-pollination some scientist put little bags on the flowers (made out of filters).

If there are bags on the flowers, how would they be pollinated in the first place?

Yeah, I'm really liking the cucaloofa thing. Or at least saying the word over and over. Betcha it would be nasty in the tub though. Squishy!

Then they collect the pollen and add it to the flower of choice.
You just get the cucaloofas and let the marketing people worry about the rest.

Pollination is part of the production of the "Next Generation" (Star trek reference noted) it should not affect the fruits (or produce) made by the initial plants. The cross pollinated plants would produce the hybrid offspring you are concerned about, but from your standard seeds would be find.
