Its possible, but very very risky. Having been a mainframe technician in the army i can tell you the best power supply to replace with is one made for the item. The outputs are nearly identical but the reduced amperage may cause problems with any chips in the recorder. The more advanced the chip the more sensitive they are. I suggest visiting your local electronics store with both recorder and power supply let the tech look at both.. he/she may have an adapter thats generic and safer to replace with if they are certain it could cause difficulties. Radio Shack would be a good start.

Can I replace a missing power supply with this one?
I lost my power supply to a recorder, and need to use it soon. I have one for an external hard drive that matches the input and output levels except for in a few cases. I'm listing the recorder's original supply first, and then the hard drives. Is it safe to use the HD's with the recorder? Thanks,
Recorder power supply:
External power adapter AC input 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz
External power adapter output 12V
External power adapter output
current 2.5A
Hard drives:
External power adapter AC input 100-240V AC, .65A max, 47-63 hz
External power adapter output 12Vdc
External power adapter output
current 2A
Recorder power supply:
External power adapter AC input 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz
External power adapter output 12V
External power adapter output
current 2.5A
Hard drives:
