It is really hard to choose. Hey, but it is semi-finals - it is supposed to be hard!

I think Cosby or Colbert will win this.

Cosby is very good at comedy and also he was the #1 role model for dads, like Martha Stewart was for moms - so should get lot of votes!

But, I am voting for the winner here - COLBERT!
Why?
- Through comedy, he is bringing on a revolution.
- More and more people are getting news from him and John Stewart
-The Colbert Report.is one of Comedy Central's highest-rated series
-Colbert was named one of Time's 100 most influential people in 2006.
- His book, I Am America (And So Can You!), was No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller List.
-He has several things named after him like a ice cream flavor, a spider, an eagle, a day and a NASA treadmill

See him here roasting BUSH!

Him on The O'Reilly Factor:

And this video should help him to WIN!

Hey Beefy, appreciate the answer, but your source is only a link dailymotion.com? That's a video website and doesn't have much to do with Colbert?

I'm with Lon on this one. I vote for RG.

I don't know if Ricky is the "the best"... Cosby is pretty tough to beat long term... but Ricky has had some REALLY funny stuff lately.

BILL COSBY IS CLASSIC
"a. Belonging to the highest rank or class.
b. Serving as the established model or standard: a classic example of colonial architecture.
c. Having lasting significance or worth; enduring."
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/classic

Bill Cosby is classic, he could make a teacup hilarious.

So many comedians, especially now, are only funny because the people who they make fun of are messing up so much that it makes writing comedy easy. Their comedy is made for the moment, issue of the day, you laugh and next day it is another issue or famous person who is famous for the day. But if you don't know the people, or events that they are making fun of, the comedy loses its kick, in fact, once the event is forgotten often so is the comedian who fed on the issue.

Even in youtube with so many young people focussed on the here and now using it, Bill Cosby gets high ratings and praise on his videos. Bill Cosby has a highly successful career spanning a human lifetime and he is still going strong. You only have to look at his imdb resume to see that his professional output is solid and enduring with an astonishing award record of 57 wins and 10 nominations. He wins far more than he is nominated for, and he wins most contests because with Bill Cosby in the running, it simply is no contest! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001070/

Bill Cosby is classic, timeless, you can watch his material the day he made it, the next day, ten, twenty, thirty, forty years or later probably a hundred years, and as long as the English language still has those words in it - he will be hilarious! That is the defining moment for a classic in comedy, in literature, how does it survive the ages? Taking the long term view - it has to be Bill Cosby - he has proven his longevity already, the jokes he made when he started are still as funny and as accessible to the masses -

BILL COSBY IS THE PEOPLE'S COMEDIAN - HIS COMEDY BELONGS TO THE WORLD! BILL COSBY IS THE MAN!!!!

Bill Cosby!

Due to his own self-destruction, Belushi knocked himself into obscurity. And I think that's where Gervais and Colbert will end up (obscure, I mean. Not dead....although in the end we all...never mind).

Bill Cosby has the CLASSIC humor that will live through the ages. Damn funny man.

Need proof? Watch this.

Bill Cosby, hands down. He first discovered that he could make people laugh while he was working at a bar while in college. His tips started going up so he kept making people laugh. He decided to pursue comedy as a career, but his parents were quite upset about it. I'm glad he didn't listen to them!

Even though he had become a successful comedian in the 60's, in 1972 he went back to Temple University and finished his education degree.

Hold you sides, here it comes...Dad is great, he gives us chocolate cake.....

I don't know how we ended up with this selection for a semi-final.

But to break the deadlock, I'll vote #rickygervais
