Why didn't Google promote the heck out of Jaiku by giving GMAIL users accounts, putting it on the Google homepage, etc?

If they aren't doing much with Jaiku, what seems to be a Twitter/Tumblr combination, I am starting to wonder how many billions of dollars they might offer to buy out Twitter. The framework seems to be there. Evan Williams does know how to attract Google, I believe he created Blogger which was bought by Google.
