Best would probably be in order
1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Temple of Doom
3. The Last Crusade
4. The Crystal Skull (or just avoid this one)

If you're trying to get someone into the series, you might start out with Temple of Doom. It's my favorite and the first two don't really give you a time line to worry about. Neither movie refers to the others.

So:

Temple of Doom / Raiders
Raiders of the Lost Ark / Temple of Doom
Last Crusade
Crystal Skull (only if you REALLY like Harrison Ford, Shia, or Cate Blanchet)
