I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond to this question.
I have Rottweilers, but the breeds do similar work. I've had up to six dogs at any given time, and have tried high end foods like Abady as well as generic supermarket kibble in an emergency. For years, we cooked for the dogs when we didn't like what was available or couldn't afford it.
Our current regimen is part good ol' Pedigree purchased at Costco, about $25 for 52 lbs., part home cooking. 1 bag of dog food lasts a month this way, as we feed kibble to our 2 dogs every other day. The home cooking consists of about 2 cups of cooked rice, half a dozen eggs, and whatever vegetable scraps and oil is generated in the house. Our dogs look great and have terrific energy
My only "don't do" advice for feeding working dogs is to feed only one thing. They seem to get sick if they get hold of some other food if they're accustomed to only one type of food.
Good luck, and good health to your dog!
