I think he has been a fantastic player, and he has been very good for the game of football. He also seems to be a genuinely nice guy.
Having said that, I think it's time for him to leave. Obviously nobody except Favre can decide when he leaves, but personally I just think he's tarnishing his legacy by lingering around for too long. He's obviously past his prime, and every time he makes a comeback it just seems to turn more people against him. And if he comes back once again and goes to Green Bay's arch rival Vikings, that will just be one last knock against him and will severely hurt his legacy in the minds of many NFL fans (including myself).
I really like the guy. He seems to be very nice, and he clearly really enjoys the game of football. I like to see that. There are so many flashy, douchy players these days that just like to go out and strut their stuff and wear a lot of diamonds and talk about themselves in the third person, and it really hurts the image of the sport. So when you have a good guy, a nice guy who is at the center of the game, it's great to see and you want to hold onto it. But after a while, it just becomes too long (see: Jordan, Michael).
