Obama means "little beach" in Japanese.
Not to be confused and used in other ways: "come 'ear you little beach".
Hope this helps!

That's actually correct, from a standpoint of a literal translation. 叔母 (oba) is 'aunt' and 真 (maa) could mean 'genuine' (although it could also mean 'to take seriously' (真 ma), 'space; interval (間 ma)' or 'devil ; evil spirit (魔 ma).'
So just throwing together kanji for fun, you could construct 叔母真 (aunt genuine), 叔母真 (serious aunt?), 叔母間 (aunt's room?), or 叔母魔 (aunt devil). From a standpoint of phonetics and and well as language requirements, 叔母魔 (aunt devil) actually makes the most sense. Of course you can't just throw together any kanji and end up with a real Japanese word....
Still, points for effort, and for linking to a Japanese translation site.

Going from this picture of the Obama Japan Railway marquee,
http://blogs.nypost.com/travel/archives/2008/11/
The word 小浜 (Obama) is a combination of two kanji:
小 (pronounced 'chi' or 'o'); meaning small / little
浜 (one pronunciation is 'hama'); meaning beach / shore
So 小浜 (おばま) is obama, where the 'ha' sound turns into 'ba' in this case.
My source for this is the Canon Wordtank G55, but the WSJ, MSNBC, and Reuters seem to back this up.
