Electrical wire mill industry started 1877, Thomas Doolittle developed hard-drawn copper wire strong enough to be strung overhead.

Does not answer the question asked.
Electrical messages were being transmitted as early as 1832 and the Morse telegraph was in use shortly after 1844.

Wire of various metals has been in use since the bronze age.
Based on degree of softness, copper wire was probably one of the first types produced

ummm yea it does, I guess you just missed it, it says "Thomas Doolittle developed hard-drawn --->copper wire<------ strong enough to be strung overhead.
