Here's the HD DVR: https://www3.tivo.com/store/boxdetails.do?boxName=180hourtivohd&boxsku=R65216
You can either subscribe to the TiVo service, or you can use it as a standalone box. Just using the box doesn't hurt the DVR capabilities at all--you just don't get access to season passes and recommended shows and all that.
But even without the service, it's a great set top box.

Is there a standalone DVR that works with OTA HD/digital? Not looking for a media PC or subs(tivo). Looking @ DTVPalDVR #mothersday

I think the best one out there is the TiVo. It has a great user interface, really intuitive and simple (but powerful at the same time), and it's reliable. Here's the HD DVR: https://www3.tivo.com/store/boxdetails.do?boxName=180hourtivohd&boxsku=R65216
