Sure it's still a blackberry on a slower network.(I'm making the assumption that your going to still get a data plan but simply not have access to a "higher" speed network.)

For reading email and sending it a slower network will work GREAT.

You really only the 3G network for doing the video portion. If you want to receive TV/video you really have to have the 3G speed.
