Is it OK to register for a Wii for the baby shower? I think the baby will want to play with it.

Of course you can register for the Wii. And, as others have noted, you, and not your children will be the primary user of the Wii. But guess what - that's OK! Childbirth and child rearing are really tough, and a little bit of down time are great. Furthermore, the Wii is a good way to stay physically active during and immediately after pregnancy.
Just remember to pay attention to what you will need for your children - everything from baby clothes to baby seats and swings to car seats and strollers can be expensive. But don't forget to see to your own needs - the Wii might be perfect for that.

haha good cover story. you should register some Apple stock (AAPL) too before the new iPhone comes out.
But ya, you can register whatever you want. It's your shower.

The worst that could happen is that no one buys one for you. And who knows? Someone could be feeling extra generous and decide they agree that you and your new baby need a Wii.

Isn't the point of a shower to get things for the baby? I would go with slightly inappropriate at best.

Considering the child will get much older age-wise in several years making the wii very obsolete you'd be seen as wanting the game system for yourself.

Well, babies want lots of things, but they don't get them all. I do support you, because the would be mother would need exercise to regain her health. So its a good idea after all!
It is your baby shower , you can register anything!
But is it appropriate? Depending on your guests that would affect it.
I am thinking great grandmas would not purchase that.... maybe more practical like clothes and diapers. But if that is already not an issue then by all means go for the frivolous. And good luck with baby.

Sure. People don't have to get it if they don't want to. Your baby probably won't really use it for a few years, but I could imagine a few ways the baby could get some use of it's interactivity with your help. Wii Music might be good. Of course with games like Wii Fit, as mentioned above it can be great for post-pregnancy exercise. If you're like me, a guy can put on a few extra pounds during the pregnancy as well, and it's a good way to get in some exercise without leaving the baby behind. I'd be prepared for a few people thinking that it might not be appropriate, but as I said, it's up to them to pick what they want to buy from the registry.
