I want to get screen/storm doors for my front & back. Do I need to have them installed or are they simple enough to do yourself?

Did the front door by myself on Friday. Took ~2hours, including stripping all of the old hardware (3 previous doors), and chiseling out the locations for the new hinges. Tools: drill, phillips and standard screwdrivers, screw removal bit (for stripped screws), hammer, 1/2" wood chisel, tape measure, pencil, 16d nail or awl or center punch (for marking locations to drill).

Would have been 1/2 the time if I had more hands to hold the door while drilling/screwing. Had to remove door and re-drill a couple of times because the door slipped.

If you've never hung a door before...try enlisting the help of a friend with some handyperson experience. Since this will be on the outside of your house, everyone will be able to see if it is not square with the existing door.

The new vinyl door was far easier than a previous aluminum one that I installed. Looks better too. Easy adjustment left/right and bottom trim piece to fit the door opening.

If you're building the door yourself, don't skip the safety chain. It keeps the door from blowing away in high winds. It will beat the cr@p out of your house...but will not kill your neighbor.
