According to Jason Calacanis, who should know about these things, sites like Engadget use semi-pro freelancers, and pay $35-$100 for a review.

Actually they pay about $10-15 a post.

The question I linked was about rates for a 1000 word review, so I guess it depends what kind of post? Or was the original answer not right?
