I always try to wear orange, since green is for Catholics and orange for Protestants. . . . And I'm a Clemson fan, so I have a lot of orange. :)
According to this article, orange has been worn by Protestants for St. Patrick's Day since 1690.

I wear orange myself, but here in the US no one knows what you're wearing about. In Canada they used to have riots between the Orange and the Green wearers. In the US almost all the Irish immigrants were Catholic Irish.

Virtually none. Everybody's Irish for a St Patrick's day party or parade; but, those are on the weekend before and/or after. Hardly anyone does anything special on the weekday itself.
