Bummer. I hate ear infections -- you have my sympathy. I am not a doctor, so take this FWIW.
Oddly enough, a few things help. If you're able to and it won't interfere with other meds, take tylenol or something like that. If you're really in pain, some doctors have prescribed prednisone to reduce the swelling, but it can have some nasty side effects. Ask your doctor since you're in pain.
Although this sounds odd, using a nettie pot on your sinuses can help relieve pressure. Use a nettie pot with warm water and sea salt and clear out your sinuses. I swear by mucinex, which will help thin the fluid and get it out. If your doctor ok's it, you may want to try some decongestants and antihistamines to help clear it all up. There 's also some homeopathic ear pain relief called similasan that I haven't tried but I've used their eye stuff with success.
Good luck!

A cold or warm compress may help a little. Some drug and department stores sell bead filled fabric bags that are meant to go either in the freezer or microwave. It's more likely that the warm will feel better than the cold - place the bag behind your ear - not directly on it and allow the warmth to radiate through. Don't sleep with one of these.
Best of luck :(

Sadly, there isn't much that you can do. If your doctor has already diagnosed the problem, then that's about all there is to it unfortunately. Wait and it'll get better.

Dip a Q-tip in a little "sweet oil" and let it drop in your ear! Works awesome for that lingering ache that follow those ear infections!.

Drop 2-5 drops of olive, almond or rapeseed oil to your ear. Note! if the tympanic membrane (myrinx) is broken just rub the oil behind yor ear. Get well soon!

Although in contrast, I did a quick Google Search and A LOT of people have had success with "sweet oil": http://www.google.ca/search?q=ear+sweet+oil
I'd talk with your Doctor about it before you try any home remedies though. Remember that your Doctor has designed a course of treatment and it likely didn't account for home remedies.
