But it's probably not the kind of film that you're thinking about, as it's more about one American family caught up in those events, and getting glimpses of US involvement, rather than about the main players in those events.

The film is about Harald Edelstam, Sweden’s ambassador to Chile, who after the military coup of Augusto Pinochet in 1973, managed to save the lives of more than 1,300 people by taking them to his embassy and transporting them to Sweden. This is a drama-doc, not a documentary.
Also "Machuca" is a 2004 Chilean film written and directed by Andrés Wood. Set in 1973 Santiago during Salvador Allende's socialist government and shortly before General Augusto Pinochet's military coup, the film tells the story of two friends, one of them the very poor Pedro Machuca who is integrated into the elite school of his friend Gonzalo Infante. The social integration project is headed by the director of the school Father McEnroe.
The film is dedicated to Father Gerardo Whelan, who from 1969 to 1973 was the director of Colegio Saint George, the private English-language school in Santiago that the film's director attended as a boy.
This is more of a lead-up-to-the-events drama
And also "La Batalla de Chile" this is more in a documentary style while still being very dramatic. It is done in 3 parts.

Question

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
Has there ever been a good movie (not documentary, but docudrama/retelling) about US involvement in the 1973 Chilean coup?
Was watching "The Trials of Henry Kissigner," and it got me to thinking about the potential of this story to make a riveting and important film, and about how most Americans probably know nothing about this chapter in our nation's history.

Yes you want to watch the "The Black Pimpernel" which is a Swedish drama film directed by Ulf Hultberg and starring Michael Nyqvist and Lisa Werlinder. The film also features Claire Ross-Brown in a minor part.
