Also, a benefit of a Page is that when you make a news update, it shows up on the user's notifications when they log in, whereas changes to a Group don't work that way.

I think creating a 'Page' would be a better way to go. I think the use of 'Groups' has steadily gone down, while I've seen more and more website, companies, athletes, musicians, etc. starting up Pages where they can post updates, images, etc. Also, a benefit of a Page is that when you make a news update, it shows up on the user's notifications when they log in, whereas changes to a Group don't work that way.
