Tom Fogerty left the band in 1971 to record a few lackluster solo records. After he left, the band remained a trio consisting of John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook. The three released CCR's final album Mardi Gras in April of 1972, to poor reviews. Jon Landau of Rolling Stone called it, "the worst album I have ever heard from a major rock band." After a final 2 month, 20-date U.S. tour, the band finally disbanded on October 16, 1972. Jonh Fogerty is the only member who gain success solely after CCR.
