People argue over whether AVG, Avast, or Clamwin is the best. AVG is what I've been using. Avast is good, but it will yell at you in a loud voice and sound a loud siren that sounds like it belongs aboard a submarine when it detects something. If you're home alone in a quiet house it can take a few weeks off of your life! Clamwin doesn't monitor live, but it has a great database. You just have to remember to run it.

Every ISP I know of offers AntiVirus software free as part of the montly connection charge.
Before you do anything, check with your ISP to see if they offer a free solution.
I use Time Warner roadRunner and they provide Computer Associates Anti Virus free for all my computers.

I've used AVG and recommend it to others as well. One thing to watch though is there are several look alikes to AVG that try and get you to buy their version. Be sure what you download is from Grisoft. They also have versions that you can purchase. So it pays to read a little before you download.

I too like AVG but here is an other approach. Every ISP I know of offers AntiVirus software free as part of the montly connection charge.
Before you do anything, check with your ISP to see if they offer a free solution.
