Hi Fluther! Finding the right gym requires a lot of research, so definitely ask if they have a trial membership so you can find what's right for you.

Biggest difference is that Curves is an all-female gym and 24-Hour Fitness is coed and opened 24 hours. I like to workout out a lot and take it very seriously, so I prefer 24-Hour Fitness because I can use it whenever. And I like the coed classes.

Here's an article comparing the two that might help you out:

I agree with jazzlover. I tried Curves when I was first looking for a gym and because it's only for women, I found it to be a lot of people who were more insecure about their bodies and didn't want to work out in a coed environment. 24 Hour Fitness was more advanced, fit my schedule and workout needs better and I've been going there for a few months now. Highly recommend.

But also can't hurt to do a trial membership first.
